Spirit and Fire
TC is committed to advocating, educating, mentoring, and empowering our children and youth.
Pastor David Lee Sincere, Jr., English Teacher Leslie Tucker Young, and PE Coach Patrina Davis started the Advocacy Now Gents Mentoring Program in 2017 with 23 boys at Briargate Elementary School. By 2020, the program expanded to over 120 kids in 5 schools. The program teaches children in grades 3 - 12 about business, entrepreneurship, cultural competency, financial literacy, and STEM/Robotics. Additionally, the program exposes children to the world by taking them on 4 field trips per year. Guest speakers are scheduled to teach the kids about business, financial literacy, entrepreneurship.
FBISD administrators were so impressed with the Gents and Gems program that in 2019 it was incorporated into the Campus Improvement Plan at each school. The program is incentive-based and teaches the kids how to become servant leaders.
In 2018, Pastor Sincere was recognized by The Texas State Board of Education, receiving the Heroes for Children Award. The award honors volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to student learning or who have demonstrated sustained periods of involvement and support of public education.
